The Old Man gathers his grandchildren for a story to tell. Magical Gypsies, the ones that live in the kitchen cabinets, see all of the children’s deeds and come out at night to scare those who have been bad. Unless the children mind their ways and do well in school, they will surely be taken far, far away to the Old Gypsy Queen. They are the Gypsies in the Kitchen!

Sit with your children and dive into this cautionary comedic allegory that is sure to keep children on the straight and narrow and adults entertained. Enjoy this fun twist on an old folktale with any children close to you, and follow the story of a young boy overcoming his desire to be bad.

As a pregnant women, I came to Amazon to order books to read to my child! I came across gypsies and I ordered it on a whim and I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy it! The illustrations are simple, yet perfect. The story is "old wives tale type" yet with a modern twist. Mr. Stafford is a great author and I can't wait until his new book Reverse Santa Clause comes out!!! Highly recommend this book!!

Gypsies in the Kitchen eBook Sean Stafford Dan Kimball Carlos West David Stadler Reviews

I selected Gypsies in the Kitchen for a baby gift and it was a wonderful choice. This book offers a basic lesson for kids on listening to adults. Fear is a great tool for encouraging young children to follow the rules or they will get kidnapped by gypsies. I look forward to further literature from Mr. Stafford so I can share his parenting wisdom with future generations.
I mistakenly ordered this book from thinking it was a guide to mail order brides. You see, I am a single guy and have no need for a children's book such as Gypsies in the kitchen. But upon closer inspection, this book has been very useful to me even as an adult.
Before I read this book, I experienced some supernatural occurrences that I didn't understand. I wondered why there would be less beer in the fridge when I woke up in the morning...cigarettes smoked and left in the ash tray...missing Hunter S. Thompson books. It was very frustrating! Thanks to this book, I have figured out the mystery, it's gypsies in the kitchen! I had been living my life frivolously and recklessly, not thinking of how my habits effected others. Since reading this book I have changed my ways and now give old things to charity and don't smoke in front of small children. I make sure that when I'm drinking in public, I conceal my habit with a brown paper bag. It's hard to give back and pay it forward, but gypsies in the kitchen has taught me to do so. As a result, I have had my books returned and wake up to a fridge full of beer! My life is forever changed for the better. Thank you Mr. Stafford for informing me of my irresponsible ways and teaching me about gypsies.
This is a fantastic book that both my son (who is two and a half years old) and I really enjoy. My son has a lot of books and since receiving this book it's the only one he will come to me with a say "Book". It's a great little story that brought me back to my own childhood of sitting on my Grandfather's knee as he told me a tale. The pictures/illustrations are cute and comical, and the wording is very appropriate for young children so that they understand the story. Too many children's books nowadays are written more for adults rather than children. It was refreshing to finally find a book that my son will actually bring to me and want to hear over and over again. It was also the first time my son said the word "Book". As a Mom, this made me so proud and I can not thank Mr. Stafford and team enough for this great read. Looking forward to more from the collection!!
I'm a millennial. And as so, society says that I'm an entitled, boisterous, free-loading heathen and generally a steaming pile of sugar-free Haribo gummy bears that will ruin the future of our society. Let me tell you, this book helped me realize that there's more to life than snapchat and craft beer.

I stumbled upon this book at the ripe age of 22 in the suggested items on . I must say, it was a fresh variation in that list, which regularly includes bicycling, devil-worshiping, and drug paraphernalia.

I took a gamble and ordered it given the nice price point. I figured the book would be funny because it seemed a little racist (us millennials are trained by our liberal tax-funded public universities to sniff out dog-whistle racism and call it out). It was a quick read, which was nice and gentle on my developing millennial brain, but like a fine poem, I let it simmer at the back of my mind for a few days.

What I learned was respect, hygiene, and that simple common sense we've all been looking for in millennials. Despite the clever rhymes, this book is deeper than what it seems. It has helped me navigate my life and I'm a better member of society for it.

Without reservation, I recommend this book to any and all readers.
This is patently (and disturbingly) racist. At first I thought that it was parody and that the racism was deliberate, but I'm much more alarmed to realize that this actually is just a terrible and offensive book for young racists and their unwitting parents. Nothing worse than spreading more damaging stereotypes about the world's most marginalized people, the Roma/"Gypsies" and teaching a whole new generation that "Gypsies" are thieves, monsters, and kidnappers. Can't imagine who could have possibly thought this was a good idea.
Not only do my children enjoy this book, my husband and I do as well. It is well composed with a lyric style. The illustrations are hilarious. My children have heeded its warnings and my husband and I delight in its subtleties. It's a very enjoyable read for young and old. I do however hope I don't have to meet any of these gypsies anytime soon.
